Portland lose Zarek Valentin in the 2019 Expansion Draft

Portland loses the fan-favorite defender via the Expansion Draft, and is then traded from Nashville SC to the Houston Dynamo

Portland Timbers defender Zarek Valentin was selected by Nashville SC in the 2019 Expansion Draft, and was then subsequently traded to the Houston Dynamo. The Timbers will receive $50,000 in general allocation money for the selection.

While not a regular starter, Valentin very quickly became a fan favorite during his four seasons in the Rose City and was a valuable piece of Portland’s run to MLS Cup in 2018.
