After playing their first twelve matches on the road in 2019, we now can rest assured that the Portland Timbers will start 2020 in a much more standard style. With no road trips longer than three games and no home-stands longer than two, the Timbers have returned to a much more normal schedule this year.

The Timbers will start the season with matches against Minnesota United and Western Conference newcomers Nashville SC at Providence Park before heading on the road to take on the New England Revolution and 2019 Supporters’ Shield winning side Los Angeles FC.

And, as they generally do, the Timbers will finish the season as they have in three of the last four years: with a match against the Vancouver Whitecaps on October 4th. This time the Timbers will be on the road, closing out the year at BC Place, their home away from home.

The Timbers’ other 2020 Cascadia Cup matches will kick off at home against the Whitecaps on Saturday, April 25th, continue at home on Sunday, May 17th against the Seattle Sounders, and then head on the road for the Seattle away leg on Saturday, August 22nd.

Notably, with the league’s further unbalanced schedule, the Timbers will not face Eastern Conference sides New York City FC, D.C. United, or Montreal Impact in 2020.

The Timbers press release:
