New Year, New You: Write for us!

A Photo Gallery of the Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes: Back on Track

Hey folks.

The MLS preseason is underway, and similar to the Timbers, we at Stumptown Footy have a couple acquisitions we’d like to make for the 2019 season. As always, if you’re interested in working with us, please read on below and then send an email to stumptownfootycontact@gmail.com with your relevant experience and writing samples (if you have any).

Women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community are encouraged to apply.

Contributor

That’s write (sic): we’re looking for more people to fill the basic need of written content. There’s a lot of room as to what sort of content you could be providing, but a short list of needs we’ve identified includes:

  • T2 coverage - Improving our T2 coverage is a priority for us this season, as we continue to feel like there are many untold stories around that arm of the club.
  • Breaking news coverage - Sometimes things happen when you least expect them to and we need someone to write about it quickly. That someone could be you!
  • Backing up our day-of match coverage for the occasional Timbers or Thorns match.

If you have ideas for things you want to write and put on our website, we want to hear them! Let us know what you’re thinking, and if we like the idea, we can chat more about it.

Community Manager

This is a position we’ve been trying to fill for a while, so if it’s you, please step up!

We’re looking for someone to more actively engage with our community across all platforms. You will work with our social media manager, writers, and editorial staff to ensure that we are best serving our community with the content they want. You will design community guidelines and ensure all discussion on the site (in the form of comments, fanposts, and fanshots) meets those guidelines. You will edit and promote high-quality fanposts to our front page layout.

If you want to work with us in a capacity not listed here, please get in touch anyway! We’re always open to new and exciting ideas.

In closing, a couple matters of housekeeping: Kevin McCamish has left the site to focus on his league-wide USL coverage; and John Lawes’s Thorns FC will no long be published here and can instead be found on rivetingpdx.com.

We’re excited about 2019 and want to thank you, the reader, for being here with us for it. If you have suggestions for things you’d like to see us do here at Stumptown Footy, or if you just think we’re doing an all around great job, let us know in the comments!
