The Portland Thorns opened preseason camp today, and with that have announced their official roster for preseason, with the usual mix of signed players, draftees and some invitees.
Most of the internationals aren’t in camp yet, with the USA players on the east coast for the She Believes Cup, the Matildas are in Australia for the Cup of Nations, and Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic, Dagny Brynysdottir and Christine Sinclair are at the Algarve Cup. Lindsay Horan, who had to withdraw from USWNT with a small injury, is the only current international presently in Portland.
Gabby Seiler is making her first appearance in a Thorns camp after missing all of last year due to injury. Regular trainee from 2018 Simone Charley has returned and could expect to potentially secure an international replacement contract if she impresses. The other non-roster invitees include Oregon forward Marissa Everett.
The most notable absence from camp is Andressinha, who we suspect may be part of an unannounced trade after being played out of position for most of last season and not closing the season as a starter.
The full preseason roster is as follows:
Goalkeepers (3): Britt Eckerstrom, Adrianna Franch (NYR), Bella Bixby (formally Geist)
Defenders (9): Elizabeth Ball, Ellie Carpenter (NYR), Kelli Hubly, Meghan Klingenberg, Emily Menges, Madison Pogarch (NRI), Katherine Reynolds, Gabby Seiler, Emily Sonnett (NYR)
