It’s official: Andressinha has been named to Brazil’s 2019 World Cup squad. The 24-year-old will make her second World Cup appearance, after appearing in all four of Brazil’s matches in 2015. She was also a member of the 2016 Olympic team, making one start and coming off the bench in four matches to help Brazil to a fourth place finish.
Since her senior international debut in 2012, Andressinha has tallied ten goals over 41 appearances. While not a guaranteed starter, her creative playmaking and goalscoring ability promises to provide valuable attacking flair to a struggling Brazil team.
She showcased this talent last weekend with a stunning free-kick goal for Portland in their 3-1 win against the Orlando Pride.
Andressinha is expected to play for the Thorns in their match against the Washington Spirit this Saturday, before departing to join the Brazilian National Team.
