The Portland Timbers are traveling once again, this time for their fifth-to-last away game of the season. While the team is on a hot streak, featuring dual 4-0 wins at home last week, fixture congestion and the second-in-the-east Montreal Impact will present a new set of challenges to Gio Savarese and his squad.
Having played many of his first choice players for 180 minutes last week, and with a key playoff-battle match against FC Dallas this weekend, it seems that some rotation is almost certainly on the cards.
Preview
Storylines: “I’m not exactly sure how Gio is managing the minutes of everyone with this tough stretch of midweek games and then a weekend game. I would sit Diego Valeri for sure, since he went the full 90 against Houston and even made an appearance in an USOC match before that, where he wasn’t (really) needed by the time he was subbed in.”
