Well, that’s a wrap on the season for Jeff Attinella.
The Portland Timbers announced today that Jeff has undergone successful shoulder surgery to repair a anterior labrum tear in his right shoulder. This means the Timbers have put him on the Season-Ending Injury List.
That brings the Goalkeeping pool down to three players: Steve Clark, Kendall McIntosh, and Aljaz Ivacic. And the latter has had his own injury problems on and off this season. I would suspect it’ll be Clark and McIntosh mainly playing, with Ivacic acting as the third goalkeeper.
Attinella lost the starting job earlier in the year to Steve Clark who has turned out to be having one hell of a season and looks very tough in goal. I believe this is the same shoulder Attinella’s injured before, not to mention he’s been out for at least a month - listed as ‘questionable’.
He’ll be doing his rehab with the sports medicine staff at Providence Park and at the Providence Sports Care Center.
We here at Stumptown Footy wish him a speedy recovery.
