The Spirit fell 3-1 after two early Thorns goals. This left them six points away from the final playoff spot, likely snuffing their post-season hopes. The Thorns remain in first place and in control of the Shield race.
Everyone predicted a win, so points for all. And we have a new leader! One.Goal.Beyond has been overtaken for the first time and Constant Weeder is now in the money position. As a reminder, our middle-of-the-pack player also gets a prize – this week that is Calafia.

Calafia takes the week’s honors (again) for getting the correct score, three of the four goal scorers and the Washington scorer/assister combo. Johnmclarke3 had the most rec’d wild prediction of a German who does not tolerate fascists.
On Sunday at noon, the Red Stars pay a visit. Chicago comes here on the back of demoralizing losses to last-place Sky Blue deep into stoppage time and then at home to then-last-place Orlando. They will be desperate for a win in Portland, a feat they have not pulled off since their first visit in 2013.
ROSTER REPORT: Gabby Seiler has been lost to an ACL, most likely for the rest of the season. There’s finally an official injury report! Chicago is missing Mautz, Jahansouz and Vasconcelos to knees while Arin Wright is questionable. The Thorns are without Pogarch, Boureille, and Andressinha with Franch again listed as questionable.
How this works:
Add a comment to this post. In the comment title put your predicted result, for example 3-1 Thorns.
In the body of your comment, start with the goals and assists, like so:
Lussi (Klingenberg)
AMC (Free kick)
Purce (Unassisted)
Kerr (PK)
Next, name the first yellow card recipient: First yellow to Dagny.
Then reds, if any. (NOTE: no points awarded for correctly calling a red-card-free match, so take a guess.) Sarah Gorden.
Make your fun prediction: Sam Kerr botches her backflip celebration to general derision but fortunately no injury except her pride.
Lastly, please recommend one of the other players’ fun prediction.

· Most recommended/most outrageously accurate prediction: 2 points
Some ground rules and explanations/clarifications (the fine print):
Comments must be posted before kickoff, but you can edit or amend an earlier prediction right up to the starting whistle.
Keep your scoreline predictions realistic. No crazy scores just to pad out your odds of getting goals and assists.
The goal/assist bonus is an additional point if you predict the correct scorer and assistant on the same goal, for example, you say Reynolds scores from a Boureille assist and that is exactly what happens. P.S. if you say exactly that, and it happens, I will hunt you down and buy you a beer!
Be clear whether you think a goal will be unassisted, assisted, or from a PK/FK. Unassisted = no assist, run of play; Assisted = player who got the assist; PK/FK = not in run of play. For the purposes of this thread, Penalty Kick and Free Kick are the same thing. No entry means unassisted.
Have fun, tell your friends, let me know if you have any questions or if I screw up your score.
