Portland Thorns FC announced on Friday that they have exercised their 2021 contract options on six players and offered eight players new contracts.
The six players whose options were exercised for next season are:
- Celeste Boureille
- Britt Eckerstrom
- Marissa Everett
- Kelli Hubly
- Meghan Klingenberg
- Christen Westphal
The eight players who received new contract offers are as follows:
- Bella Bixby
- Simone Charley
- Tyler Lussi
- Emily Menges
- Emily Ogle
- Madison Pogarch
- Angela Salem
- Gabby Seiler
The Thorns also announced that Autumn Smithers, who was on a short-term contract for the Fall Series and did not make an appearance this fall, has not been extended and is now Discovery eligible.
The rest of the roster remains intact for the most part. Portland has five players under contract for the 2021 season and a couple players currently not with the club. Meaghan Nally is currently on loan at Turbine Potsdam in Germany while Tobin Heath is playing for Manchester United in England. Portland retains the rights to Heath.
