MLS announced on Saturday that Portland Timbers forward Dairon Asprilla has been suspended for violent conduct in Portland’s Nov. 8 match against LAFC. He has been fined an undisclosed amount and will miss the FC Dallas match tomorrow.

The play in question occurred in the 81st minute of the Decision Day match. Asprilla was chasing a long ball from Jorge Villafana that made its way toward LAFC goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer. Asprilla kicked Vermeer in the face while making his run towards the ball. You can see the video here.

Asprilla hasn’t played much in 2020 due to a meniscus tear he suffered back in May that required surgery. He has played in three games in 2020 and has no goals or assists in 46 minutes. In his six seasons with the club, Asprilla has scored 13 goals and dished out 12 assists, earning the nickname Mr. November due to his knack for timely goals in playoff time. There will be no timely goals from Asprilla in this first match at least.
