Portland Thorns FC acquire draft picks from Houston Dash in exchange for Emily Ogle and Gabby Seiler

The Thorns acquired the seventh and 37th picks of the 2021 NWSL Draft in the trade with Houston.

Portland Thorns FC announced on Wednesday that the club has acquired the seventh and 37th picks in the 2021 NWSL Draft. The Thorns traded midfielders Emily Ogle and Gabby Seiler to the Houston Dash for the draft picks.

“We appreciate Emily and Gabby’s commitment and contributions to the club and wish them well as they continue their careers in Houston,” said Thorns FC general manager and president of soccer Gavin Wilkinson. “Acquiring these additional draft picks gives the club valuable assets as we continue to finalize the roster.”

The Portland Thorns selected Ogle with the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft from Penn State. Ogle appeared in eight matches, five of which came in 2020.

Selier was selected with the ninth pick of the 2018 draft from the University of Florida. She made 20 appearances for the club.

Portland Thorns FC currently holds the No. 7, No. 12, No. 22, No. 32, and No.37 picks in the 2021 NWSL Draft. The draft will take place Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 4 p.m. (Pacific) on the NWSL Twitch channel.
