Portland Timbers vs. New England Revolution: Preseason Match Thread

MLS: New England Revolution at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers finish out their slate of preseason matches today when the side take on the New England Revolution in a match that is certain to feature the same starting XI that the Timbers will run out next Sunday when they open their season against Minnesota United FC.

Following on the heels of Wednesday’s 4-2 beating at the hands of the Loons reserves, the Timbers will be looking to finish off their preseason on a high note. Equally important, however, is that the Timbers show that their attack is coming together and is capable of putting together more than just set-pieces and wonder-strikes against MLS sides. With Yimmi Chara and Felipe Mora integrated into the starting lineup, the Timbers have made two big changes to their attacking lineup and showing that they can function with those players on the pitch is important to starting off the season on the right foot.
