FINALLY!!!

At long last the Timbers will take the field in the strangest of conditions in Orlando.

MLS: Portland Timbers Practice Craig Mitchelldyer-USA TODAY Sports

The Timbers are hours away from returning to “league” play in Orlando. Of course it will actually be “tournament” play but nevertheless, the Timbers will Be raking the field.

The LA Galaxy will lineup opposite the green and gold. The last time the Timbers played in the MLS against Nashville SC, they won 1-0 and fielded a team full of fresh faces. It’s fairly unknown at the moment how Savarese will line them up tonight but according to the Timbers website, they project the following lineup.

For the Galaxy, everyone will be watching the star singing Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez. Still looking for his first MLS goal after his first two ended without a tally, the Mexican international will be on the prowl.

Without any recent games to cite, it’s hard to say who will start but we can hope to get glimpses of Yimmi, Mora and finally Niezgoda. The back line will more than likely feature new signing Dario Zurich at center back partnering Larrys Mabiala with Jorge Villafaña at left back. Chris Duvall showed well in his first games with the Timbers and made a good case for a starting position.

We can surely expect to see Blanco, Chara and Valeri but who will start at center forward is something of a mystery.

The game can be seen on FS1 at 7:30 PST. Match thread to follow!
