Welcome to the MLS is Back Quarterfinals.
The Timbers were able to win on penalties to advance to the quarters. While there was no winner at the end of 90 the Timbers had their shooting boots on, and Steve Clark more than made up for his howler earlier on in the night. Now it’s on the Timbers to get past this next obstacle and earn a place in the semi-final.
New York City FC had different path that found them now in the quarterfinals. They ended the group stage the best of the third place teams in groups to advance. NYCFC beat Toronto FC in the round of sixteen to continue their under dog run. The Timbers will have to be mindful of Maxi Moralez, who was the spark plug that the attackers for NYCFC used to fuel their win.
