The Cascadia Derby continues as the Seattle Sounders invade Providence Park. The Timbers are coming off a 6-1 smashing of San Jose, the Sounders are coming off a 3-0 win over a terrible LAFC side that find themselves under the playoff line in ninth place.
I’m sure that Giovanni Savarese will once again rotate the squad. The thing is if the Timbers can pick up all three points they’ll be in a tie with Seattle for the top spot in the Western Division, so the derby has implications. There are only 11 games left to the season. It’s time to do work.
The Sounders lead the Western Conference in PPG at 1.91, the Timbers for comparison are at 1.50. Stefan Frei has a GAA of 1.0, leaking 11 goals in 11 starts, so it isn’t like they can’t be scored on. But getting that SECOND goal isn’t going to be easy.
