In a move that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone following women’s soccer, Portland Thorns FC’s Christine Sinclair was named to the Canadian Women’s National Team training camp roster ahead of the 2021 SheBelieves Cup.
Sinclair is easily one of the most accomplished players in Canadian soccer. She helped lead Canada to two bronze medals in 2012 and 2016 and became the all-time international goalscoring leader last year, scoring her 185th goal against St. Kitts and Nevis to pass Abby Wambach for the honor. She currently 186 career goals.
The SheBelieves Cup will take place from Feb. 18 to Feb. 24 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando and will feature four teams: Canada, the USA, Japan, and Brazil. All four of these teams reached the knockout phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France back in 2019 and have all qualified for the 2021 Summer Olympics.
