The Portland Thorns can clinch the NWSL Shield with a win against the Houston Dash today in PNC Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. PST and will be broadcast on Paramount+. The Thorns are winless in their last four matches, their longest winless streak of the season. Portland drew their last two matches against Kansas City and OL Reign. The Thorns looked the better team for most of the match against the Reign but were undone by an inability to convert their chances and an interesting penalty decision.
The Washington Spirit defeated the Reign 2-0 in Tacoma last night and if the Thorns can beat the Dash tonight they will win the NWSL Shield. But Houston has been tough to beat as of late and have played the Thorns well throughout the season. The Dash lost to Kansas City 3-0 on Wednesday but before that were unbeaten in their last five.
