The United States Women’s National Team played Argentina on Wednesday to close out the SheBelieves Cup. The USWNT beat Argentina 6-0, ending the tournament with nine points and winning it all. The U.S. became the first team to win back-to-back SheBelieves Cups and the first team to keep three clean sheets all tournament.

Becky Sauerbrunn was the only Portland Thorns representative in Vlatko Andonovski’s starting eleven. She played the full 90 minutes while Crystal Dunn, Lindsey Horan, and Sophia Smith all started the match on the bench.

The U.S. started fast and didn’t slow down. In the 16th minute, Rose Lavelle lofted a through pass to Megan Rapinoe. Rapinoe finished cooly, becoming the SheBelieves Cup all-time leading scorer.

Rapinoe made it a brace in the 26th minute. Christen Press dropped into midfield and played a line-splitting pass to Carli Lloyd. Lloyd squared to Rapinoe, who tapped it in.

Lloyd got on the scoresheet shortly after assisting. Kristie Mewis found Lloyd and Lloyd found the back of the net.

Mewis added a fourth in the 42nd minute. Casey Krueger got the ball to Mewis who took a touch around the defender and slid the ball past the keeper and into the bottom corner of the goal.

Horan came in for Lavelle to start the second half and Smith entered in the 62nd minute. With Smith’s first action of the match, she dribbled around Argentine defenders in the box and almost set up Mewis’s second of the night.

Sauerbrunn won the ball back in the 84th minute. Smith got the ball in midfield and drove at the Argentine defense. Smith slotted the ball to Alex Morgan to make it 5-0.

Mewis took a corner in the 88th minute. The cross found Horan, who headed it back across goal. Press arrived and made it 6-0.
