We have dates! Major League Soccer announced the full 34-game schedule for the 2021 regular season on Wednesday for the Portland Timbers. They will open their season on the road against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Sandy, Utah on Sunday, April 18 at 7 p.m. PT. They will also play their home opener on Saturday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. against the Houston Dynamo.
The schedule feature at least 10 nationally broadcasted games, with five road and home matches. All three of the matches between the Timbers and Seattle Sounders FC will be nationally televised as well. For the locally broadcasted games, 16 of them will be aired on FOX 12 Plus and the other eight will be on ROOT Sports.
Portland will also face Eastern Conference opponents for the first time in over a year during the regular season. They will travel to face the Philadelphia Union on May 30 and will host Inter Miami on Oct. 3. They will also play new expansion side Austin FC three times. They’ll travel to Q2 Stadium on July 3 and Aug. 21 and then host Austin at Providence Park on Decision Day on Nov. 7.
Before the MLS season starts, however, the Timbers will have to play their first two matches of the Scotiabak Concacaf Champions League Tournament against CD Marathon. They will travel to San Pedro Sula, Honduras on April 6 for the first matchup and then host Marathon at home on April 13.
