NWSL and Nationwide agree to multi-year partnership

Nationwide becomes the league’s first inclusive insurance partner.

The NWSL announced Monday that Nationwide has become a national official sponsor of the league. Nationwide has become the league’s first inclusive insurance partner.

The league will work with the insurance company on local initiatives within team markets. Nationwide will also present a community impact award at an end of the season awards ceremony. Similarly, Nationwide and “the NWSL will work together to highlight the NWSL’s community initiatives, including those of the players and fans.”

“We are excited to embark on this partnership with Nationwide, a powerful brand with a long history in engaging sports fans,” said NWSL Commissioner Lisa Baird via press release. “The NWSL and Nationwide are committed to the growth of this sport, investing in our athletes and creating a platform where we can make a difference in NWSL communities together.”

Nationwide is one of the largest and most diversified insurance and financial services organizations in the U.S. It is a Fortune 100 company that is based in Columbus Ohio.

The 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, presented by Secret Deodorant, kicks off on April 9th with a rematch of the 2020 Challenge Cup Final between Chicago Red Stars and the Houston Dash. Portland Thorns play their first match at Providence Park on the same day against Kansas City at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific).
