The Portland Timbers announced on Friday that they have traded an international roster spot to FC Cincinnati in exchange for $225,000 in General Allocation Money.

It is the second move that the Timbers have made in 2021 to acquire GAM, the first coming back in January when they traded the eighth overall pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for $100,000 in GAM. They also acquired $300,000 in GAM back in December of 2020 from when they traded defender and homegrown player Marco Farfan to LAFC. For the full press release, click here.

The Timbers have already played a pair of matches in 2021 against CD Marathon for the Concacaf Champions League tournament, but they’ll officially start MLS play this Sunday against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Sandy, Utah. Kick-off for that match is set for 7 p.m. Pacific. You can read our full preview of the Timbers season here.
