The Portland Timbers are jumping back into Concacaf Champions League play tonight! That’s very exciting, until ... you realize they’re playing Club America, the most successful team in the competition’s history. It is going to be an incredibly difficult match. Not only is it going to be challenging, they’re playing once again without Jeremy Ebobisse and Sebastian Blanco, who are both still recovering from their respective injuries.

Even if they were healthy, this would still be a tough match. America might have dredged through their Round of 16 matchup against CD Olimpia, but these are the seven-time champs we’re talking about. The hope if you’re Portland is that the rotation utilized against the Houston Dynamo this past Saturday was enough to give the most important players some much-needed rest. If Portland comes out aggressive like they did against CD Marathon, they’ll have a chance. If not, it’s going to be tough sledding.
