Dutch news outlet RTV Utrecht reported today that Portland Thorns FC’s coach Mark Parsons is set to become the coach of the Netherlands Women’s National Team.

Sarina Wiegman is the current coach of the Dutch Women’s National Team and will coach the Oranje through the Tokyo Olympics this summer. After the tournament, Wiegman will take over as the manager of the English Women’s National Team. According to The Equalizer’s Jeff Kassouf, Wiegman will start coaching the Lionesses in September. He alos noted that while Parsons is linked to the job, it is not 100% confirmed.

Parsons signed a multi-year contract extension with Portland Thorns FC in March 2020. Parsons has led the Thorns to the 2016 NWSL Shield, 2017 NWSL Championship, 2020 Fall Series title and most recently the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup title.
The Portland Thorns conclude the NWSL regular season at Providence Park on Oct. 30 against the North Carolina Courage. The top six teams will advance to the playoffs and the NWSL Championship will be decided on Nov. 20.
