Whether you feared the worst or hoped for the best, the worst seems to have come. Portland Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured right rectus femoris tendon — which is a part of your quads — and will be out for the season. The surgery will be performed on Monday, May 17 at Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center.
The injury occurred during the Timbers’ latest match against the Seattle Sounders on May 9. He is one of three ‘keepers that are now injured on the Timbers, with Steve Clark and Aljaz Ivacic also still out.
The Timbers also announced the signing of USL Championship goalkeeper Logan Ketterer, who played most recently at El Paso Locomotive FC and will join the Timbers for the remainder of the season. Ketterer and 19-year-old homegrown Hunter Sulte are all that remain for the Timbers.
