After putting in excellent showings in a 2-0 road victory over the San Jose Earthquakes this past Saturday, Portland Timbers midfielder Eryk Williamson and goalkeeper Logan Ketterer have both been named to the MLS Week 5 Team of the Week. They are the first Timbers to make the team this season.
Williamson was excellent in the midfield for Portland on Saturday. He tallied two assists while putting together one of his most complete performances in MLS play. He was crucial on both sides of the ball while playing in an unfamiliar role with Diego Chara sidelined due to injury.
Ketterer — who joined the team last week due to the plethora of injuries plaguing Portland’s goalkeepers — was also solid in his MLS debut. Ketter stopped a penalty kick from Chris Wondolowski and was an all-around for in the box for Portland. Not bad for a guy who joined the team just a few days before.
