Timbers match on Saturday changed to 8 p.m. kickoff

The game was originally slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff

MLS: Sporting Kansas City at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers announced on Tuesday that the kickoff time for Saturday’s match against Minnesota United FC has changed to 8 p.m. Pacific due to an excessive heat forecast in the Portland area. The match was originally slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

This is the second time in two weeks that times for matches have been changed for the Timbers. Last Tuesday, Major League Soccer announced that the times for two Timbers matches — one on Sept. 19 against LAFC and another against Inter Miami CF on Oct. 3 — had been changed to 4:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively.

Portland is coming off a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City this past Saturday. Before the Timbers’ matchup against Minnesota this weekend, they’ll have a midweek match against the Houston Dynamo tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. Pacific. If you want to read the full press release of the time change, click here.
