We’ve got ourselves a hot one at Providence Park today. After multiple time changes due to the excessive heat every Oregonian is suffering through at the moment, the Portland Timbers are finally set for their match against Minnesota United FC. I’m expecting it to be a hotly (so sorry for that pun) contested match.
Last match was a weird one for Portland. On one hand, they did well enough in the second half to earn a much needed road point with their draw against the Houston Dynamo. On the other hand, they looked not great in the first half. And now they’ve got to deal with the 100-degree weather to boot.
I’m curious how the heat affects the rotation for today’s match. I’m also curious what formation the Timbers run with. The 3-4-3 and 5-2-3 that they went with against Houston brought mixed results. Will they run it back and try to replicate that second-half magic? We’ll find out.
