The Portland Timbers are set for their match against FC Dallas, and its a big one. It’s not big just because it’s a rematch where Portland has a chance to get some revenge on a team that beat them big time during their last meeting. It’s important because it’s the first time this year that the Timbers will have the chance to play in front of the lovely fans of Providence Park with the stadium at full capacity.
That’s just a splendid thing to think about. It’s splendid not just because it’s fun to see ravenous soccer fans screaming their heads off. It’s fun because it gives the Timbers that much more of an advantage. Every Timber has talked about how much worse its been to play in front of no fans compared to a stadium of thousands. Goalkeeper Steve Clark had said it started to make it feel more like work rather than fun. Well, now the Timbers get the chance to have some fun. Let’s hope for a good one, Rose City.
