Six Thorns called up for international duty

Four Thorns were called up to the USWNT, Rodriguez and Kuikka were called up by Costa Rica and Finland, respectively.

Six Portland Thorns players have been called up to their respective national teams for the upcoming international window.

Crystal Dunn, Becky Sauerbrunn, Lindsey Horan and Sophia Smith were called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team by Vlatko Andonovski. Smith is one of three players who made the roster that did not compete in the Olympics. The other two players added to the roster were Mallory Pugh and Andi Sullivan.

The USWNT will travel to Ohio to play friendlies against Paraguay in Cleveland and Cincinnati. The first match will be played in Cleveland’s FirstEnergy Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific). The USWNT will play their second friendly in Cincinnati’s new TQL Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific).

Rocky Rodriguez and Natalia Kuikka were also called up to their respective national teams. Rodriguez and Costa Rica will play Panama in two friendlies on Sept. 18 at 4:00 p.m. (Pacific) and Sept. 21 at 6:00 p.m (Pacific). Kuikka and Finland will host Slovakia. The match is set to kickoff at 8:15 a.m. (Pacific) on Sept. 21.
