The Portland Timbers have one last chance to break into the playoff field today as they take on FC Dallas at Toyota Park. Trailing the 5th place Vancouver Whitecaps by a single point, the Timbers need to bridge the gap and hope that the Whitecaps, who play at 7:00 PM tonight, do not regain the lead against the disintegrating Colorado Rapids.
Match Previews
Match Preview: "If the Timbers are going to raise their quality back up to the level that we have gotten used to over the last several weeks, then their efforts are going to have to start with their midfield. Although the defense managed to concede early and often against Olimpia, it was their performance in the midfield that put, and kept, the pressure on the defense to start with."
Preview Interview: "FCD is riding high with a lot of confidence right now. The team has beat every western conference playoff opponent this season. A lot of teams are going to dread seeing this team in the playoffs. With all that being said, the next match is against Portland at home. Dallas has gone 10 seasons since winning their last home regular season match. It's ridiculous to think about. Beating Portland would break a very long, ugly streak."
