Report Links Ghanaian Teenager Francis Dadzie with Portland Timbers

A month-long trial is ahead of the 18-year-old striker from Bechem United, according to a report on Monday.

report at MTN Football indicates that 18-year-old Francis Dadzie will be on trial with the Portland Timbers for the next month. Merritt Paulson tweeted (and deleted) a note on January 31 indicating that an 18-year-old African would be joining the team in Tucson on Monday, which appears to line up with the report regarding Dadzie.

The teenaged striker is referred to as a 'giant' and has been playing in Ghana's Premier League this season (2013/14) with Bechem United, though he has played at Cheetah FC and perhaps Liberty Professionals as well. The report suggests Dadzie will have a month-long trial with a chance to impress and earn a spot in the first team. The video below lists him at 5'11" and left-footed.

Of course the Timbers have a successful history with plucking a youngster from Ghana with Kalif Alhassan joining the second division iteration of the club back in 2010. Alhassan was playing for Liberty Pros at the time.
