The Portland Timbers are in for yet another test today as they head back on the road to face off against the New York Red Bulls following a disappointing string of three home games. While the Timbers are undefeated in four matches, wins are needed if they are going to turn around their season and New York are no pushovers.
Here is all the information that you need for today's match:
Previews
Match Preview: "The changes to the Timbers back line may not end there after another unlucky (or just poor if we are not being charitable) performance from Futty Danso against the Crew, in which the Timbers' centerback gave up a penalty for the Crew's second goal and deflected in a shot to give up their third. Following the early season implosion of Norberto Paparatto, the Timbers seem to be without a truly solid choice to partner with Pa Modou Kah, who has been far from perfect himself."
Preview Interview: "Surprise of the season, Roy Miller, who has been a rock at left back, will be the bigger absence. He started every game except for the Toronto match (he was let go early for the World Cup), and when he was in the lineup, very rarely did our opponents beat us on the left. Miller also contributes on the offense side, and he developed some good chemistry with Eric Alexander. Against Toronto, it's obvious he was gone, especially when Defoe got a goal early."
