Portland Timbers at Sporting Kansas City Open Cup Match Thread [5:30]

The Timbers head to Kansas City today for their second Open Cup match of the year.

USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers head to Kansas to take on Sporting Kansas City in the fifth round of the US Open Cup tonight. With SKC limping into the match thanks injuries and call-ups decimating the side, the Timbers will need to push the pace to wear down their opponents not just for tonight, but for Friday's rematch between the two teams in MLS league play as well.

Here is all the information that you need for today's match:

Previews

Match Preview: "The Timbers, who gave a number of their usual bench and reserve players a run out last week, seem to have a high level of confidence in their depth players right now, particularly in the attack, and we will likely see a large number of changes both up top and in the midfield between this week's two games."

Preview Interview: "Chance Myers, starting right back, is out for the year with a torn achilles. Ike Opara, first backup center back and logical starter for this match, is also out for the year. Uri Rosell was transferred earlier this month, leaving a hole in the starting midfield and Benny Feilhaber went down with a shoulder injury in the last match before the break. This leaves Sporting KC with the burden of having to play multiple backups turned starters in both matches this week, including Lawrence Olum and Erik Palmer-Brown."
