The Portland Timbers are back on the road today and looking to get their record back to even with a win against the LA Galaxy. Facing off against the Galaxy in LA has been a daunting task for teams this year, but with the Timbers' recent road form, four wins in their last four games on the road if we include the US Open Cup, this could go either way.
Here is all the information that you need for today's match:
Previews
Match Preview: "Following last week's pair of results, a win on the road and a loss at home, both against Sporting Kansas City, the Timbers are in a place that is hard to forecast. All year teams have been packing the defense at Providence Park and making the Timbers work to break them down, something that they have had little luck with when it comes to getting wins. On the road, however, when teams seems more inclined to go at the Timbers and open up the field of play, the Timbers have done better for themselves, posting three of their four wins this year as the away side."
Preview Interview: "The first match of the winless streak was a 2-2 draw, and then began the long 1 goal streak which lasted until the 1-0 defeat of San Jose. For LA fans it was especially hard since many of those goals were given up after the 60th minute. It's been a knock against the club for several years, and what exactly causes teams to give up late goals? How do you coach out not turning off an hour into the match? Whatever that special power is, LA getting the one goal victory over the San Jose squad who reinvented the late comeback over the last few years is certainly a step in the right direction."
