Portland Timbers at Colorado Rapids Match Thread

The Timbers are headed into the mountains today to take on the Colorado Rapids.

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Spor

With an opportunity to step back over the red line in front of them, the Portland Timbers will be hoping to come back from Commerce City today with all three points from their match against the Colorado Rapids. For their part, the Rapids will be hoping to right the ship against the Timbers and recover from a disastrous run of form that has seen them lose their last five games with a cumulative score of 15-4.

Of course, history is on the side of the Rapids in the match up at altitude, with the Timbers having taken exactly one point from their matches in Colorado since joining MLS. The Timbers are not alone in struggling to get points while going away to play the Rapids, who are perennially a very strong side when playing at home, but this is a big chance to buck that trend and get back on course for the rest of the season.

Preview Interview: "...Both of Colorado's starting center back pairing (Drew Moor and Shane O'Neill) are out. Without those two, the defense has been in shambles approximately 3000% of the time, and the team has been exposed as having exactly zero good depth at the position."
