Portland Timbers vs. CD Olimpia Match Thread [7:00]

The Timbers play hosts for the first time in the CCL as Olimpia comes to town.

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers are set to take on the Honduran champions, CD Olimpia, today in a CONCACAF Champions League matchup. With Olimpia already on six points from two wins over Guyana's Alpha United, this is a must-win fixture for the Timbers as they jockey for the first place spot that will put them through to the knockout stages early next year.

Match Preview: "The Supporting cast in the attack will be a different story, however, as players like Diego Valeri and Darlington Nagbe seem unlikely to start against Olimpia. Instead, Gaston Fernandez will almost certainly be given the reigns to the attack and will work with players who have been in and out of the 18 this years; probably seeing some combination of Kalif Alhassan, Steve Zakuani, and Michael Nanchoff deployed on the wings."
