The Portland Timbers are in Quebec today for their furthest afield away day of the year as they get set to take on the Montreal Impact. With the Timbers coming off a scoreless home draw against their rivals the Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal dead last in the league, having only played four games, both teams will be feeling the pressure to get a result in this one.
Previews
Match Preview: "At the defensive end, the Timbers remain solid, having managed four shutouts in nine games and allowing only 0.89 goals per game so far this year. The back four of Alvas Powell, Nat Borchers, Liam Ridgewell, and Jorge Villafana have been solid this year and we should not expect any changes there. Powell remains just one yellow card away from a suspension due to accumulation, but the Timbers' young fullback is only one match away from having that total reduced by one thanks to the good behavior incentive."
Preview Interview: "The other dangerous player is of course Ignacio Piatti. I don't know if you watched the first half of the second game against Club America but he was a true force out there. The only thing I [would critique] is that he keeps the ball too much at certain occasions. I can recall a couple of times where he could have passed the ball to Oduro or Jack and he lost it. Besides that when he is on his A-game he is right at the top among top players in MLS."
