The Portland Timbers will have a new home kit for the 2017 season, replacing the “Chevron” kits in which the side won the 2015 MLS Cup, and now we have our first look at them thanks to Merritt Paulson’s first tweet since stepping away from Twitter late this year.
Boom. Full reveal will be in January. Have a happy and safe holiday season! #greengold2017 #RCTID pic.twitter.com/NQntJROFs9

Although most of the jersey itself is obscured in the picture, we can see that it is decidedly a return to the Timbers’ classic green third kit which was retired before teh 2016 season.
With green and gold coloring, notable details that can be seen include a button-up collar and the use of a silver star above the team crest — the gold star from the 2015 kits is reserved for the most recent winners of the cup. Additionally, we can faintly see the modern Alaska Airlines logo on Valeri’s chest, rather than the throwback logo used on the green third kits.
How do you feel about this kit? How does it compare to those that came before it? Let us know in the comments and be sure to share any other details that stand out.
