Portland Timbers vs. Toronto FC: How to Watch, Preview, Match Chat [12:30]

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers host Eastern Conference side Toronto FC today for the visitor's eighth road game to start the season. The Timbers come into this one freshly reinforced thanks to the respective returns of Diego Valeri and Liam Ridgewell, but will find themselves up against some stiff competition from 2015 MLS MVP Sebastian Giovinco and former Timbers captain Will Johnson.

Match Preview

"At the other end of the pitch, the return of Diego Valeri should give the Timbers a much better chance of breaking Toronto down. While the Reds have had very few weaknesses exposed in their back line so far, the few teams that have had success against them have done so by making runs at the back line and playing through balls in behind; for the Timbers, no player is as adept at breaking down back lines as Valeri so his return will be vital to the Timbers' game plan against Toronto."
