On Monday afternoon the Portland Thorns unveiled their new kits for the 2014 season. As was the case in the championship-winning 2013 season, the Thorns will feature red primary kits and white secondary jerseys. The red tops will be paired with red shorts and red socks for another monochromatic look, while the white shirts will again go with black shorts. In 2014, the Thorns will also wear black socks with the secondary kit.
As is the case with every NWSL club, Portland is outfitted by Nike. Parklane Mattresses and GloboFuel are additional sponsors with the latter's logo appearing on the right shirt sleeves and on the shorts of both new sets. Providence Health & Services will remain as the Thorn's primary shirt sponsor. The new solid red shirt is a bit of a departure from the white bar that broke up the team's inaugural kit. But the most significant change from 2013 to 2014 is the inclusion of a championship star above the Thorns' crest on both shirts.
