The Portland Thorns and Washington Spirit meet once again, this time across the country in Boyds, Maryland at the Maryland SoccerPlex. This match will have a decidedly different look, with both teams seeing the return on their American and Canadian internationals, plus Washington trading for Lisa De Vanna and potentially adding some mid-season signings. Paul Riley will have an interesting task on his hands, as he tries to manage the minutes of the returning internationals, with Christine Sinclair playing 90 minutes Wednesday, and Allie Long (60 minutes) and Alex Morgan (45 minutes) playing Thursday, while also looking ahead to the rest of the week that sees them return to Portland Wednesday and then heading to Kansas City on Saturday.

Match Preview: "Morgan and Vero seems to have found their form, and a new Spirit backline, one that will probably not really be in sync with each other, gives the Thorns an ever better chance for a dominant performance. The Spirit like to use their speed and attack off the long ball, so the Thorns will have to play with extra awareness to not allow players behind them and alone with Betos, but if the Thorns control possession and the midfield, they will successfully contain much of the threat presented by Washington."
