Thorns Announce Preseason Schedule

Thorns open Preseason camp Monday and will face the Pilots on March 21 at Merlo Field, then train in Arizona from March 23-29, where they will face FC Tucson and the University of Arizona to close out their preseason match schedule.

The Portland Thorns announced their preseason schedule Thursday, as they prepare for their third NWSL season.

The Thorns will open camp on Monday and train in Portland for about two weeks, before heading to Tucson, Arizona, where they will train from March 23-29, then return to Portland to conclude their preseason camp.

Highlighting the preseason schedule is a match against the Portland Pilots' women soccer team at Merlo Field on March 21 at 7:00pm.  Tickets to this match will be available online or at the Chiles Center box office on the campus of UP.

During their time in Arizona, the Thorns will play two matches.  Their first match will be against the newly-formed FC Tucson Women of the Women's Premier Soccer League on March 25 at 6:30pm, then close out their preseason play against the University of Arizona on March 28 at 6:30.  Both matches will be played at Kino North Stadium, which also hosted Timbers preseason matches in January and February.  No word on whether these matches will be streamed.

The Thorns will then return to Portland on March 30, where they will continue to train in the run-up to the of their home-opener against the Boston Breakers on April 11 at Providence Park.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC will open preseason training camp on Monday, March 9, as they begin preparations for the 2015 National Women’s Soccer League campaign. The club opens its preseason schedule with training in Portland and will play three preseason matches, including two in Tucson, Ariz.
Presented by Providence Health & Services and the University of Portland, Thorns FC visit Merlo Field for a preseason match against the University of Portland on Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m. (Pacific). Tickets are $10 for reserved stadium chairs, $8 for reserved bench back seats or $5 for general admission, while $2 of every ticket purchased supports Providence’s sports screening and health education programs for youth in the community. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. (Pacific) and can be purchased through the Pilot box office at the Chiles Center (Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.), by calling (503) 943-7525 or at ticketmaster.com.

Hosted by USL Premier League Development League club FC Tucson, Thorns FC will train in Tucson, Ariz., for the second straight year from March 23-29. During the team’s stay in Arizona, Portland is scheduled to square off against FC Tucson Women on Wednesday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. (Pacific) and the University of Arizona on Saturday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. (Pacific); both matches will be played at Kino North Stadium. Individual tickets for preseason games in Tucson are available online through FC Tucson at
shop.fctucson.com.
Thorns FC season tickets packages start at $85 and are on-sale now. Lower level and general admission seats are available.
