The Portland Thorns have now gone three games without a win, but the side will look to get back on track in today's match at home against the Houston Dash. With both teams missing players for the World Cup and out due to injuries, this will be the Thorns last chance to grab points at home before a long away stretch makes things even more difficult.
Preview
An increasingly difficult opponent, the Dash may have finished in last place in their first-ever NWSL season, but were a better side than their results. This season, expectations are higher for Houston, following some off-season trades, which included bringing in former Thorn Jessica McDonald, who leads the team with three goals. However, the Dash will be without a number of key players who are injured or with national teams. The U.S. squad has taken defender Meghan Klingenberg, midfielders Morgan Brian and Carli Lloyd, while starting goalkeeper Erin McLeod is with the Canadian National Team. Defender Stephanie Ochs is also out after undergoing knee surgery earlier this month.
