Portland Thorns at Seattle Reign: How to Watch, Preview, Match Chat [2:00]

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Thorns are back in action after the long Olympic layoff and of course they are getting back in the swing of things with a rivalry match against the Seattle Reign in the same weekend that the Portland Timbers host the Seattle Sounders. With most of their players back from national team duty, Thorns fans will be seeing a close to full strength Portland side for the first time since July.

The Thorns will be looking to start off a good weekend for Portland soccer fans while they start their final push for the NWSL playoffs. Currently in second place and six points behind the Washington Spirit -- but with a game in hand -- the Thorns will need to go on a brilliant run of form if they want to challenge the Spirit for first. The Reign, meanwhile, are still within striking distance of a playoff spot, but they will need to get some positive results if they want to make the postseason.

Match Preview

"The Thorns boast the best road record in the NWSL this season at 3-1-4 and have secured three clean sheets. In their last visit north, Portland earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Nadim also scoring a header in that match. Though she missed a number of games on national team duty, Heath still ranks second in the NWSL for assists, while Horan will look to break a deadlock of four goals each with Nadim and Dagny Brynjarsdottir."
