Larrys Mabiala signs multi-year extension with Portland Timbers

The defender has appeared in almost 100 matches for Portland since 2017.

The Portland Timbers announced on Tuesday that they have signed defender Larrys Mabiala to a multi-year contract extension, fulfilling yet another one of their goals for the offseason.

Mabiala has been a part of the club since 2017, when he joined from Kayserispor in the Turkish first division. The 33-year-old defender has nine goals and two assists in 99 appearances (97 starts) across all competitions and also started for the Timbers squad that played in MLS Cup in 2018.

Mabiala had a solid 2020 for the Timbers, appearing in 22 games (20 starts) across all competitions and tallying two goals and one assist. Mabiala scored a goal in the Timbers’ 2-1 victory over Orlando City in the MLS is Back Tournament Final and was also one of four Timbers players named to the MLS is Back Tournament Best XI.
