Well, we have a new date! Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that the MLS regular season will kick off on April 17 after the ratification of the CBA this past Monday. A regular season schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
The announcement is a change in start dates from last month when MLS announced the season would start on April 3. This was obviously before MLS and the MLSPA had come to an agreement on the CBA when a lockout loomed.
While a start date has been agree upon, the has yet to be confirmed. MLS originally had the regular season ending on Nov. 7 and the 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs beginning on Nov. 19. MLS Cup Final was also set to be played on Dec. 11, so we’ll see how those dates have been affected by the change.
