As a Timbers fan, I do NOT want this to happen. Kreis was our kryptonite when in RSL. I can't imagine him with a bigger budget on our rival team.
On another note, I have been quite anti-NYCFC since the beginning, but this is a new level of low. I think they continue to show that they do not understand or respect this league. You can't just buy your way to the top, and expect a coach to produce an expansion team that does well in their first year. Especially when you start meddling with his personal decisions. I just have trouble understanding why people would support this club (other than some MLS gateway for euro fans, who for some reason wouldn't follow the Red Bulls (insane as they had Thierry Henry!!!!!).
Lagerway's take
Sounds like Lagerway is denying anything, but he also says that as long as they're winning nothing will change. If they fall out of the playoffs again (either this round or the next), I imagine the idea will be a lot more likely to be on the table.
Frankly I would like to see Kreis in Chicago or Colorado. Have him help a struggling team. I do think eventually he wants to go to Europe (with possibility of USMNT eventually), but clearly his stock has likely sunk a bit in their eyes, and now is not the time.
