The Portland Timbers hosted Deportivo Saprissa in a must-win match on Wednesday. Unable to field a first-choice lineup, and down one after a blown coverage in the backline, the Timbers scratched and clawed their way back with a header from Jack McInerney. It proved too little, too late for the Timbers as they could only muster a draw and thus eliminating themselves from CONCACAF Champions League.
