We are back!!!
The Portland Timbers roasted the Minnesota Loons on Friday night 5-1 in their season opener as Fanendo Adi looked like a man amongst slightly-wet-tissue-paper opening the season with his customary brace.
Early showers forecast Portland's dominance and Larry Olum opened his account in the 14th minute providing the right kind of wall-ball court for Vytas' soft glancing header that found it's way through the 8-yard box. Newcomer Sebastian Blanco would later put in a beautiful cross to Valeri who redirected into the left corner, putting the Timbers up 2-0. The loons would pull one back in the 78th minute after Christian Ramirez adjusted nicely from a poor touch curling one past Jake Gleeson. Two minutes later Adi would get pulled down in the box and Valeri buried a PK to go up 3-1. In the 90th minute, the Timbers started playing with their food as Nagbe streaked through the midfield until playing a perfectly weighted ball to Fanendo Adi who showed off his soft feet juke sticking the keeper to get his first of the year. Flash forward 3 minutes to see Adi kill the game by taking on two guys going right then left and burying a left-footed floater. ADI BOOM BAE YAY!
