There’s a reason that they call it the silly season, and this rumor may have been the silliest so far. After some late night speculation and the exchange of eyeball emojis, Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson made it known that the club is not pursuing Radamel Falcao.
Paulson tweeted this morning that he may have had too much fun with the eyeball emojis and that nothing is happening.
After looking at my TL this morning, I wont have fun w emoji responses to silly season rumors anymore (at least not this year).

Falcao is a top player/personality & I’d love to see him in MLS but for the record the Timbers are not engaged w him or his folks. Sorry Falcao fans
The clarifying tweet came after he exchanged tweets with Herculez Gomez in the replies of a post from Varsky Sports, the post saying that the Timbers were a candidate to bring Falcao to MLS. Unfortunately for fans of El Tigre — who stated previously that he had interest in playing for Inter Miami FC — it is not happening.
In all honesty, it’s not surprising that Timbers aren’t pursuing Falcao considering they have several forward options and no DP slots available. Oh well, it was a fun silly season rumor while it lasted.
